Today I have had to remove my engine and gearbox. Least the weather has been nice.

So I recently replaced the original front plate on my ribbed gearbox with a one from ESM with the new style oil seal. This was due to excessive puddles of oil under the box when parked. When replacing the front plate I noticed that the pressure plate was covered in oil. I used break cleaner on the pressure plate and once aired off, we put everything back together.
All appeared well, with only small puddles for a couple of weeks (FYI my Moggie is a daily driver). Then over the last week I had noticed the bite point on the clutch was practically on the floor and a lot of oil that appears to have sprayed underneath the car. There has also been an intermittent metal on metal creek sound as the clutch pedal is pressed.
Today I discovered that the front plate on my gearbox did not cover all the holes on the gearbox front. My friend that is helping me is confident this is where the oil is coming from and luckily we have a spare box to use. Apparently the box may have been of a Midgit or Austin car.
My main question that I hope someone can help with is will my clutch and pressure plate be okay to use or do I need to replace? There is no obvious issues with either other than being soaked through with oil. And i cannot for the life of me understand why my bite point was on the floor!
Thanks all
O
