Marina Pedal Box

Post by Giovanni »

Just looking for some guidance/photos regarding the fitting of a Marina pedal box, I have searched the forum and I can’t find anything with working links. I have the pedal box already and would like to have the benefit of someone’s experience in fitting these before I start cutting my wee car.

There is some but very limited information regarding fitting the Marina pedal box in the Owen Burton Marina to Minor booklet available from ESM.
https://www.morrisminorspares.com/misce ... on-p831093
If the pedal box mount adapter (Pt No: OWN-106) https://www.morrisminorspares.com/brake ... ox-p829423 is placed on the bulkhead it will quickly become apparent what needs to be done as regards making the hole in the bulkhead. The pedal box adapter has to be welded to the bulkhead and battery box.
The Marina throttle pedal has to be used.
The Minor bonnet cross brace has to be modified if the duel circuit master cylinder is used.
The fresh air inlet fitted to the 1098cc Minor's will have to be moved.
The brake and clutch pedals will have to be bent to clear the Minor steering column.
It should be noted that there are at least two different versions of the Marina pedal box and actual fitment may vary.
There are also single and dual circuit master cylinders with and without servo.
I have a non servo Marina pedal box and Marina throttle pedal on the shelf which I am considering fitting but at the moment I am reluctant to cut the bulkhead.
Good luck
Phil

Thanks Phil, I have the duel circuit version of the pedal box and although Iam reluctant to cut metal I feel the benefits of having a duel circuit servo braking system will be worth it. I will make enquiries with ESM to see if I can source some literature on the subject for reference. Hopefully someone can supply photographs of a fitted pedal box as sometimes pictures can be invaluable when doing this type of work.

Have you thought about fitting a dual circuit master cylinder in place of the original single circuit master cylinder.
There is a duel circuit master cylinder kit available from down under.
With the duel cylinder kit you do not have the problem of the torsion bar

I would love to add a few upgrades to my pick up but the wife keeps reminding me that Iam working to a very tight budget 😳.
I will need to push on and fit the servo that came with the Marina pedal box, it will what surely be an improvement on the original.

I vaguely recall somebody telling me I should reinforce the mounting area if I wanted to fit the Marina pedal box as the firewall might flex. I toyed with the idea years ago but chickened out and decided to get an remote fluid reservior that is easier to monitor. Could even put a sensor on it!

I made something similar based on a beetle dual circuit master cyl.

Looking at the photo above - It would appear that the master cylinder feed pipes will extend above the floor plate.
