There have been some bad batches of Rotor Arms & Dizzy caps around that can give the symptons you have, are yours new ones, if so fit the old ones to see if things go back to normal.

If you fill in your location then we can tell you are from Denmark!
Had same problem recently, turned out to be the ignition switch. OK when first started, stop or even stall the car and could not restart. Sounds strange but was the switch .

okay - I know but a dizzy cap - is that the vacuum advance unit ?
Ooooh, sorry! The vacuum advance is tucked in behind the dizzy cap, and advances the timing of the spark to give better fuel economy. Feel free to correct, BTW folks, that's a) from memory, and b) at the scary edge of my knowledge!
Cam wrote:Onne had this problem at the national rally. It was a sticking choke. Make sure that the jet at the bottom of the carb is returning back properly.
push the jet upwards (towards the carb body) that should shut the choke off. If it's open then you should see a bit of the brass jet tube visible between the carb bottom and the jet bottom (where the little flexi-pipe goes in).
