Playing with CFD (Aero)

Post by Monty-4 »

CFD being computational fluid dynamics.

Most of this is beyond me and I'm using free or nearly-free tools but given I have been playing with a 3D model of a Minor I may one day turn mine into - a four door lowlight conversion - I thought I'd try to run it through a simulation.

Some fun images at 60mph. Basic flow first.

It seems to me, a complete novice, that as we might expect the angle of the bonnet nose, the front and rear windscreens and the rain gutters are quite bad offenders when it comes to pushing air out of the way in our favourite car.

Shall I add headlight peaks, a visor, a badge bar, spotlights, and a tow bar to see how much worse it can get?

Why not try a traveller and a convertible with the top down.
Could be good for a giggle
