Camshaft choice

Post by Dusty56 »

I have received advise that the Swiftune SW5 can is an excellent choice.

I am considering a KAD "stage 3" cylinder head.
Would I be better going for their road 100 cam?

I can't find specs from either manufacturer to compare.

Engine is Marina 1275

The choice of camshaft and head will depend upon what you want to do with the car.
For normal or spirited driving the fitment of a performance camshaft and stage 3 head to me is not required.
A standard 1275cc Marina engine in good condition fitted to a Minor with the 1.5" carb will easily give you spirited driving.
You will need to make sure that the transmission is up to coping with the extra power. May require upgraded half-shafts as a first step; and not forgetting the brakes.

I have looked at the websites but they don't give comparative specs.

The A series always responds well to improved breathing so a streetable set up is all we require.

The Chevy V8 I put in my Model A was tuned a little wild but if course it was a large engine in a light car. The intention is to increase performance without sacrificing driveability in the Minor.

Brakes are already sorted.
