Checking over a 1098 short engine

I've got hold of another engine and have been told it was reconditioned and ran fine, but I think I'll take the sump off and have a look before doing anything else.
The head is already off.
What do I need to check?

Also it came without push rods.

I would check the bores for wear steps, and the centre main for wear 90 degrees appart using plastigauge.
