Does it protect the top of the accelerator pedal shaft where the cable nipple connects to it?

I agree, it's the Accelerator/Throttle protector from on the parcel shelf.
My car didn't have one when I got it; one of the first things I got from ebay....

One of the last parts of the rebuild is the new parcel shelf, so that ties in nicely.
Currently buried in a leaf spring replacement so that’s the next job!
