Parcel tray/shelf

Post by Grumpy21 »

thinking about sprucing up the parcel shelf under the dash. 1970 traveller.

Any tips for getting it out? I can see two bolts into the kick panels and I've read about rivets under the bonnet, what about the heater hoses?

Cheers

You don't need to disturb the heater hoses
There are 2 plastic hoses which go through the parcel shelf in order to direct warm air into the footwells, but these are just a push fit.
As you say, there are just the 2 screws - 1 in each side - and the rivets into the bulkhead area. I found it easiest to remove the battery as there are 2 rivets through the base of the battery box into the parcel shelf below. On my car I used pop rivets of a decent length with a washer on each side to spread the load. It was much easier than using the bifurcated rivets as originally used.
