purchased some new wiper baldes and arms for 1966 van.
does any one else find the springs in the arms a little on the weak side

Yes, I agree that they do seem a bit feeble, although adequate. But would stronger springs affect the load on the mechanism and/or motor?

yes agree they are adequate just
i have some old ones and the springs are a lot stronger so would not affect the mechanism

As Colin Chapman used to say at every possible opportunity, the softer springs are MUCH better for the car's handling...

Well thays a good theory Andrew, next time I change the wipers I will do a before and after cornering check to monitor the improvement..........................................

Yes. I cut 1/4 inch off the end of the springs and then made a new hook end using a pair of small pliers.
Helped a lot.

I have found this too. In fact the last pair I got from Brum were obout 1/2" shorter than originals. Have now got some new old stock, but still have problems. they only seem to wipe on one stroke.
Any ideas.
