Surplus English Wine & Minors?

So, Prince Charles was on the 6pm BBC News for an interview on climate change and mentioned that he runs his 50 year old Aston Martin on surplus English wine.

So, a few questions:

Were Aston Martins 50 years ago built to run on low octane fuels?
How do we run our Minors on wine?
Does it have to be English, how baout a nice Merlot?

Couldn't help but wonder what cheap plonk we could get away with in our cars, though I presume he only runs it round the estate and not on the public highway.

Quite a few 60s sports cars ran(run!) better on higher octane fuel, 99+, so he's onto a winner there from that point of view.

I can’t imagine that the Aston covers any serious annual mileage whatever it’s fuel. Perhaps of greater concern is the royals’ habitual use of helicopters.
