Minilite wheels

Hi amazing fellow Minor enthusiasts
Happy new year!
I just purchased a set of minilite wheels from ESM and went to have the tyres fitted to the wheels and the wheels to the car but when they tried to get the front wheel on it seemed to catch on the centre where the wheel fits over the wheel bearing and catches on the outer lip of the Brake drum!
I hope this makes sense
Has anyone had this problem before? Could I skim the outer edge of the brake drum where it fits over the wheel bearing cover

You need a pair of spacers, they are about 1/4 thick, I also found that longer studs fitted better. They should all be available from ESM.

ESM list a 5mm spacer for use with alloy wheels.

I would advise that you speak to ESM soonest to determine if the spacers listed above are a requirement when alloy wheels are to be fitted.

The spacers are not in stock at ESM but available from Mini spares.

I have to use 8.5mm spacers on the rear axle of my Morris when the Minilite wheels are fitted.

Thank you! Would I need them for the rear wheels also?
Do you press out the old studs from the brake drum?

You may need them on the rear but as the rear brakes are smaller at 7" dia you may get away with not having to use the spacers. It will be a case of trial and error.
When using spacers on the front it may be better to fit the same thickness spacers front and back to even up the track.
The wheel studs have to be pressed out of the hubs front and back. The brake drums fit over the studs.

Thanks so much for all your advice, car all sorted fitted longer wheel studs with 5mm spacer wheels went on a treat, they look great!
