Well I don't know what happened there! Here we go again.
I am totally vexed by the fault my Moggy has decided to "test" me with today.I have no wipers or heater blower, everything else is fine. All 3 fuses are fine but I cleaned them up as a part of my fault finding process. After a lot of messing about, I decided to check the supply to the wiper motor. All OK.The black wire is earth (positive) and the two green wires have 12.4V on them with respect to earth. Now for the spooky bit........If I link brown wire, the one that runs to the wiper gearbox and is presumably something to do with the self parking feature, the wipers run and the heater fan bursts into life! The problem then is that the wipers can't be switched off.Has anybody any suggestions please??
Thanks,
Ian

wierd
Wierd is the word. The wiper circuit is earthed on the CONTROL
BOX at terminal 'E'. it is common for the short lead from terminal
E to the earth(on the bulkhead hidden behind the wiring loom usually)
to go high resistance. Find this lead and give everything a clean.
I cannot see any relationship between the wipers and the heater
switch except that they are both fed 12v from one side of the
instrument voltage stabiliser! Try the control box earth first and
we can take it from there because the other suspect is the self
parking circuit.

I'm not sure this is the same thing, but when I first got my Minor the fan wouldn't work unless the wipers were turned off. (no fun in the rain when it's misting up!) I found that the fan's earth was connected to the wrong bit of the wiper switch (it seems that's where it's supposed to get it's earth from), when I moved it to the unused terminal of the switch all was fine. Might be worth checking the wiring at the wiper switch to see what connects to what in each position.

wipers
If checking the bulkhead earth(inside the engine compartment)
gives no improvement then I think you had better mark the position
of the parking circuit domed cover and then remove it. Check the
contacts which will be exposed and re-try. The parking circuit
stops the wipers after you have switched them off by disconnecting
the EARTH connection, the 12v supply is present all the time that the
ignition is switched on which is why when you connected the earths
together you could not turn the wipers off!

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your input anyway.
