The original one I has a place to put the return spring on the throttle lever, which then goes down to the manifold where there's a bracket to receive the end of the return spring. It worked well and gave a good operation to the accelerator pedal.
I have fitted the other carb and wasn't sure how to attached the throttle return spring to the throttle level as there is no obvious place to receive the spring. Then I noticed in the workshop manual the return spring attaches to a small tag on the accelerator cable trunnion and then returns to a bracket on the oil bath air filter.
I have adopted this option although I don't have a tag and have just hooked the spring over the nut on the trunnion until I can make something more satisfactory.
The only thing is the accelerator pedal doesn't operate as smoothly?
Can I adjust the throttle lever, is 90 degrees a normal position for this?
Any advice or tips for the best solution would be gratefully received?
Also another little thing that I am unsure of. The vacuum pipe from the carb is a metal pipe with a small olive which compresses. Is there another way to attach as I can't get replacement pipe with an olive? Or how do you attached the rubber versions?
