Hello to all,
I am brand new to this forum. I have a modified 1958 morris minor 948 coupe left-hand drive export to US and Canada. The car currently is sitting on a 3” x 2” steel tube frame with a 350 in.³ GM crate motor, a 700R4, 4 speed automatic transmission, four wheel disc brakes, and a narrowed 1998 Chevy S 10 truck differential with 410 gears and a spool installed in it. The car does run pretty well, and since I live in Northern California I would like to get the windshield wipers working. Here is my question: the car currently has the original wheel boxes, windshield wiper arms and blades. However I am missing all of the segments of the outer casing, the inner drive cables and the motor to run all of it. I know that there is a guy here in the US who has a Morris pick up truck who was able to modify his existing wiper set up with a two speed MG motor while using the drive gear from an original Morris. And that sounds like a great idea to me, but I don’t have any spares with which to use to build such a set up. So, what I would like to do is, purchase all of the original stuff I need to bring the wipers back to the original condition if anyone happens to have it. Or, I would like to use aftermarket dual motors arms and wipers in order to facilitate this. I could see it going either way, but I have not seen anyone do this modification. I have looked on different hot rod sites such as TCI, and also, Speedway Motors, and they have set ups that might possibly work, but I wanted to find out if anyone has actually done this modification yet, so that I could save time and buy the appropriate parts without having any issues. So, if anyone has done such a modification on a Morris Minor, would you please respond and let me know-A: What kits/where did you buy? B: how did they work out, and are they still on your car and functioning well? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided in making my decision concerning this.
Cheers,
