Spare Traveller Body Panels

Hi

Tomorrow evening I am going to look at some Traveller parts with a view to buying them to put into stock in case I ever need them.

There are two complete side doors, two steel front wings, two steel rear wings a front bumper and valance and a pair of rear bumpers, along with various door handle and indicators etc, these all came from a Traveller that was scrapped a few years ago, but are all apparently in good useable condition.
The asking price is £100 for the lot, my question is what should I be looking out for, and how would I recognise the difference between genuine wings and reproduction ones etc.
I think the price is probably OK, what do others think ?

If the parts are in good condition then the price sounds fair to me. On the steel panels, look for rust and evidencew of filler - a magnet can be useful. Check door bottoms. Look at top edge for splits. Remove the trim and look inside for evidence of previous repairs. Do the windows wind OK and quarter lights open? Do door locks work? Generally, some rust might be preferable to not having any spares.

Genuine wings are heavier and better formed that pattern ones, look at the general finish.

Overall, you're buying a few used spares. They might not be perfect, but they could be the difference between being able to repair your car or having it off the road for ages whilst trying to source bits when you need them. Like any insurance, you hope to never need it, but you're glad that you've got it when you do need it.
