Stopped getting notifications
Once again I have stopped getting notifications of new posts. The last one I had was 2-3 days ago. Could someone take a look please.

Yes, me too!
Re: Stopped getting notifications
As per previous conversation on this topic, I'm afraid there isn't a great deal I can do about this. Looking at the mailbox of the account the automated emails are sent from, I have a number of bounced mails, which is essentially your own email provider rejecting the emails sent by the board as crossing their spam threshold .

Re: Stopped getting notifications
You could try sending the board emails through a service such as sendgrid, which will be less likely to trigger the spam assassins on the various mail hosts people use.
There are other free services as well.

Re: Stopped getting notifications
Interesting. I use the same e-mail for at least 3 other car forums, one of which generates 50+ notifications a day without a problem.Admin wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:33 pm As per previous conversation on this topic, I'm afraid there isn't a great deal I can do about this. Re: Stopped getting notifications
Well, I don't know. This has happened before. I can't see why my provider should keep changing its mind about what is spam or not

Re: Stopped getting notifications
I have now changed my e-mail address to one from a different ISP and I am still not getting the notifications so either I am dead unlucky with my choice of e-mail providers or there is something else going on. Could someone please check again to see why they aren't coming through. Thanks.

Yes, please....
Re: Stopped getting notifications
I can’t recall when I last received a notification of a new post, although I get them for the lcv register. However I just click the ‘New Posts’ heading on the forum to see what’s new. That’s how I get round the issue. I’ve given up wondering why computers do what they do!
Re: Stopped getting notifications
I'll be honest and say I didn't realise my email notifications were switched on in the control panel.
So, chalk me up as another which doesn't get any emails through.
Emails being caught as spam or failing to even send are almost always down to the set up on the server attempting to send the email, and not the end user. If the server is sending a 'valid' email with correct sender, is not blacklisted, and is using a well known email isp to send them through, then they are unlikely to get blocked by the many servers that people's emails go through before destination.
You can avoid all this problem with a proper email isp.

Re: Stopped getting notifications
I might be being a bit dim here...…..err, won't be the first time in my life...….but I don't get what the problem is! I'm a relative 'newbie' (joined last Oct) so I really don't know what the norm is.
I 'tune in ' to the forum most days as I have it set as one of my favourites on my laptop and I just click on 'New posts' to see if there is something of interest or that I can benefit from - sadly, there's precious little I can positively contribute to advice-wise as I'm not that technically clued up.
I have never had any notifications of any posts other than to notify me of a response to questions that I have raised from time to time. That's only if I remember to tick the appropriate box!!

Re: Stopped getting notifications
Yes exactly, you should be getting email notifications for threads you are subscribed - when you reply to or create a new thread you are automatically subscribed to it.
Re: Stopped getting notifications
Thanks for that B69. Perhaps I'm not a fick as I thought then
Cheers.
