It has been done - but these are considered to be poor weak pathetic engines compared to the A series unit - and it will not be a straight 'slot in ' job.

There really is no point, get a 1275 a series, much easier to fit, easier to tune, more robust etc. and in standard guise they only produce something like 5hp less (i don't know the exact amount off hand tho)

Now a Triumph Vitesse 6 cylinder engine could be interesting........

Hello BMCE,
" but these are considered to be poor weak pathetic engines", really? Good enough in 1100 cc size to run at Le mans, in the early sixties. 100 BHp and about 135mph in a Spitfire. Not so weak, I believe.

Anything can be done to a Race engine - but they are notoriously weak in the crankshaft area.

'swhat I heard too - no experience of them myself, but they've always been derided.

I don't know if the smaller ones are better, but the 1500's are fragile. As it said it will also bhe a pain to fit, you might as well find a 1275....

THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES, That'll be that idea put to bed then.
So the search is on for a 1275 motor.

Join the queue !! 1275 in-line engines sell 'very well' on ebay. What engine is in your car at the moment - and is it a go-er ?'
