Wow, just managed to read all the posts about your project. As many have said great standard of finish and as a newbie just starting out a great encouragement and my 'Clarence' isnt quite as bad as yours started out. So certainly hope for me. Thank you for all the pics and explanations really going to help me. Just one thing, HOW did you get the axle indoors? and with new carpet as well.

Oh thank you , I’m still learning myself ( I’m a modern day panel beater by trade) but this is a totally different ball game,although I’m using some knowledge from my job,I always find good information tips and pictures on here to help me through difficult tasks , iv learnt that if a problem arises and it doesn’t work out , stop working on it and walk away, sleep, and start again the next day and it will all pan out in the end.i hope that I do help at least one fellow Morris owner. Well my wife is very understanding towards me and my project , the project is a huge part of me and my family ,and she helped me through the loss of my dear grandpa who handed me the keys when he was ill and I promised him that I would look after it ,restore it,use it and keep it in the family for ever ,plus she has helped me financially which is a huge help ,and I’m sure if I marked the carpet I’d replace it in a heart beat ,,,,,,,,after getting “ the look “ which I’m sure some of you may understandRichie B wrote:Wow, just managed to read all the posts about your project. Thanks for response. Theres something really special about these little cars of ours and the same goes for the community 'feel' on this site.

Yes there is , its in my blood for sure, many happy memories were made traveling to and from vintage car shows and steam fairs, with my grandparents, if I remember rightly I’m sure I saw Fred dibnah on a huge steam roller thing , tho I was a lot younger and non the wiser of who he was !Richie B wrote:Thanks for response. This community has helped me no end, I’m not the brightest of people but I’m clued up on body work , it’s just everything else I get stuck with , iv asked many silly questions on here , knowing il get embarrassed to even ask it but asked anyway , to find that the good members with great knowledge come forward to help those who are unsure ,my grandpa was an early member to this club , his club number is just two digits and iv luckily kept this number. Thank you for your warm words ,I do hope he’s proud , best wishes to you and your family and your project of course , and have a great Christmas

Last week I managed to have a look at the windscreen wiper unit , seems to be in ok condition , I removed the main cover of the gears , removed all the old grease inside it and cleaned the gears up and re greased them , painted the cover .the gears and cables seem to run freely. I also stripped the motor part as well ,it seems to be in order but I think the brushes will need replacing before I fit it to the car , I’m a little way of this mind

And paint striped the number plates , with real paint stripper , not nitro***** .
Etched them and primed and painted them with Matt lacquer, and painstakingly cleaned up each letter and painted them gloss white .

Managed to pop the new joints in the prop today . I say pop in but it was a little tricky getting them out

It was a lot easier putting them back in .with a little help and a bearing press . I marked where the sections met with tape and where the grade nipple was

Well , a few weeks ago I mentioned that I was a bad boy this year and I was sure that nothing was under the tree, ( iv given the card a good battering this year ) and for that reason , I wasn’t expecting anything , but low and behold , under said tree was many shiny Morris bits , 4 wheels and chrome caps , so I must have been a good boy thank you wifey

Happy New Year.
Wipe a bit of grease over the internal circlips ( UJs ) and their grooves with a blob of grease on your finger.
You'll have to clean it off next time you change them but... it will be a whole lot easier. And it helps keep the water out and rust at bay !

Hi all , been a week or two since iv posted, Christmas been and gone . Iv fitted the rear brakes, hand brake cables and brake pipes to the diff , iv noticed when tightening the hub nuts on one side , when it was tight , the hub it self is sliding in and out by hand , what could cause this ? Is it the wrong bearing width , a worn hub or the diff casing it’s self ?....I torqued them to 90 nm .

Your car is coming on really well! Please don't take this as a criticism. I'm not sure how close to original you want it to be but your replacements are Minor 1000 wheels and a different pattern to the original Series 11 wheels. Also Series 11 Minors never had white/cream wheels and grille. I’m more then happy with criticism I’m not going for an exact series 11 splitty. Im restoring the car to how my grandpa had it when he passed it on to me. Thank you for nice comments tho . I’m just a little worried about the rear hub having play in it !!!

Assuming you are talking about the rear wheel sliding in and out, you need to determine where the relative motion is. Is it bearing inner race to housing or bearing outer race to hub. The latter can be confirmed if the outer race does not protrude a bit from the hub. The former is more likely and should be prevented if the axle nut is fully tightened. From your photo it does not look fully tightened.
The brake line T on the differential should be laid over. It is attached by a bolt through the hole and the hose is horizontal. Unless the photos are upside down the wheel cylinders need to be flipped. The pistons come out the bottom not the top.
