RE: scrapyard hunt
Pretty much any 5-speed 1.6 Sierra will do (LOADS in the scrapyards). Make sure it's got the removable bell-housing though.
Escort axle is MUCH more difficult though........... I seriously doubt you'll find one, so you won't be able to choose 1.3 or 1.6. I think they are the same axle, just a different ratio. You might want to get RS2000 halfshafts (like mine) but you won't be finding them in a scrapyard!

RE: scrapyard hunt
youre right, finding a rs2000 would be a rare find, might be a few 1.3's or 1.6's though dotted around.
is it tru then all i need is a fitting kit for these two parts and im pretty sorted out

Hi,
if you are able to find one I think you'll find that the 1.3 escort back axle has smaller drum brakes than the 1.6, though this might only have been the Ghia version.
Also just be careful with the Sierra box because the diesel and 2.8, 2.9 and V6 models had a long input shaft about 8.1 inches from the front gearbox face and different front covers
The 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol models had the short input shaft, about 6.9 inches from the front face of the gearbox, which is the probably the best one for the Minor.
Regards,
Wal

Not as such, no. You'll need to weld some new spring mountings to the axle after grinding the escort ones off, plus you'll need to get a custom prop built.ohc_turbo wrote:youre right, finding a rs2000 would be a rare find, might be a few 1.3's or 1.6's though dotted around.

What about turreting the rear for the shocks (oh, alright, dampers...)

Yes, and improving all the other suspension bits and putting disc brakes on the front would be good too!
