Quinton Hazel Wheel Cylinders

Has anybody used the above front wheel cylinders? Are they any good? There are some for sale on eBay which are a bit cheaper than the usual suppliers. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-WHEEL-C ... SwkShY-efX

I've no experience on f the wheel cylinders, but if recent experiences I've had with other components of theirs (namely suspension arms on my modern) is anything to go by, I would avoid. I believe they were bought out recently, and in the limited experience I've had, quality has suffered.

Hi,
Every time I have read an article on here about wheel cylinders the same thing has been voiced by everyone, that on the front you should always go for the best quality you can get, irrespective of price and that you can get away with pattern cylinders on the back but not on the front.
I would go with that, as the front brakes take the brunt of the braking force and do the hardest work.

I agree that you should use the best quality components Mike, maybe I should have rephrased my question, Quinton Hazel are a large manufacturer of automotive components so that is why I asked for members opinion of the products.
I too am fed up with poor the quality components we are offered.

Quinton Hazel used to be at the higher end of the market, I haven't seen any negative press about them and indeed I bought some QH handbrake cables recently and they are very good but I accept brake cylinders are another matter.
Of course the main suppliers (Bull Motif, ESM etc) will all want you to purchase theirs, so you won't solicit any impartial advice there.
IMO QH should be okay, they are a reputable supplier and as such you do have recourse to a full refund or replacement parts should the ones supplied turn out to be not up to scratch, in which they will be just the same as the regular main suppliers used by other MMOC members.

Bought a Oem set from Moss but I am unsure who the manufacturer is, the set I have removed are not oem as the seals are placed on the piston where as the the oem ones use a rubber plug in the bottom of the cylinder to push out the piston.
One other thing I have noticed is the O ring which acts as a dust seal on the outside of the cylinder does not fit very snugly to stop dust ingress. To help with this I have fitted another O ring which sits against the end of the outside of the piston better to stop dust ingress. It may or may not work, time will tell. I also used brake grease on the pistons.
