Plenty about, and for many and quite often innocent reasons. My first van, (back in 1989!) when we went to see it the owner explained how he'd rebuilt it using the best bits of two vans. It had one set of plates on it, but he gave me the choice of which reg I wanted with it... I didn't mind and didn't think anything of it and had the plates which were screwed to it. Then wondered why GPO enthusiasts asked me about it and there was no trace of GPO yellow on the body, just original damask red.... Not saying its right, but a very common scenario...

Plus BMIHT production records CAN be wrong, so it's not all plain sailing.

At Webb's LCV Rally last year there was an AddPk
Traveller masquerading as a 1968, owner okay with me taking details, so he must have been oblivious to it being a duff!!
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Sold for £165 Waste of time us all reporting it to ebay...
Look out for HPR 735 in the adverts....
It could of course have been bought to replace a rubbish age related plate on a 50s Minor and make an owner really happy or on the other hand...
cheers

Yet the listing for the early 'barn find' blue Mini with Cooper head was taken off by eBay because, despite being auction format, the main description implied the seller was inviting offers, which may encourage him end the auction early.

He's amended the listing (just about) now!

Apparently more important to eBay that their T&Cs are adhered to, than compliance with basic fraud prevention. :o
