chassis leg....

Post by dudload »

whilst trying to diagnose my squeaky suspension (in another thread) - i came across this horror on what looks like a botched weld on a previous owner fix. Is this a straight to welder job or ok for the moment??

[edit - i've tapped extensively up and down the leg and this is the only problem bit...]

It isn't clear what has been corroded and what has been welded. The whole area needs to be cleaned back to bare metal, which the welder will need anyway, to assess how weak or otherwise the chassis leg is and how appropriate the repair.

looks like the join of a replaced section of leg,get it cleaned off to have a good look at the rest of the weld, whoevers done it has made a good job with the old black a sticky hide everything ,plaster it on thick goo.
