Re: Engine breathers
The oil separator is the right part, but is the tappet cover part distorted? The centre of it looks very depressed?
The rocker cover is fine - no vent tube on it?
The oil filler cap needs to be replaced by the proper vented one - looks more like a fuel cap? The vented cap has a wire mesh filter in it and is 'calibrated' to create the correct partial vacuum in the crankcase (or so the theory goes!). The first part (mesh filter) is very important.

Re: Engine breathers
i think its just the picture but will compare. rocker cover has no vent tube. think ill have to use the original rocker cover for that mesh cap to fit and just block the breather off

Re: Engine breathers
Before discarding the chrome rocker cover - take the cap off the chrome rocker cover and see if the cap securing pegs protrude into the cap aperture or has an external rolled lip with external cap securing catches.
If the cap securing pegs protrude into the filler cap hole the normal BMC rocker cap will fit.
