Kick plate colour
Hello all, just wondered if anyone knows what colour the kick plates would have been on a trafalgar blue 1968 saloon? maybe body colour or silver?

They're body colour on the later ones.

I can confidently say that they were always silver - regardless of year and car colour - the kick plates were always silver.

Really? Never knew that. Only seen silver on earlier ones. Learn something new every day.

Yes, every day is a learning day
.
I agree that a lot of "restored" cars have had their kick plates painted in body colour. There is no harm in that of course but if you want a car to look original they should be silver. The kick plates on the very first Minors were aluminium and I suppose the silver paint was used to imitate that look.

Re: Kick plate colour
Although not strictly 'original' I am pleased with the effect of using Hammered finish Hammerite (Silver) apllied several years ago the advantage I have found it is tougher than normal finish spray silver in not noticably shown foot scuff marks as the original smooth silkver had. (Just my personal choice) Depends how much original you want its your carvolrod544 wrote:anyone got the colour code then ?

The smooth finish hammerite is still tough but looks more original
