Hi,
As per above posts, the spacer tube in the rear mounting hole should slide backwards and forwards to suit, if it doesn't give it a tap with a hammer to free it up.
Pack your front (6.3mm as quoted) space out with washers until all the pulleys for the fan belt all line up, it is important that this belt is lined up properly. I only need two washers on mine, using an ex-MGB Lucas alternator.

If the spacer or whatever it is at the rear is supposed to move I would get it moving as suggested, if it has gone tight and picked up then cranking the front bolt up could break the casting, its only ally and won't take too much stick.
