Brake Creak

Post by Trickydicky »

As the title suggests when drawing to a standstill I get a creak from the front brakes. I have had the drums off and cleaned them, also gave the shoes and drums a clean with some sandpaper.
The car passed it's mot today with no advisories so the brakes would appear to be working to the required standard. I have poly bushes on the tie bars, could this be the cause as I have read to use one poly and one rubber bush on the tie bars.

Did you grease the polybushes? My last car would creak at low speeds on bumpy roads when I fitted polybushes without grease. On the Minor iv fitted all polybushes with grease as reccomended on here. You could spray wd40 on it to see. Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know.

Check the metal around the eye bolt for cracks.

Cheers guys I will check it all tomorrow.
I got an email today as Moss have reduced some parts by 25% which includes 7" brake drums. They are reduced to £9.23. As I already have a set of shoes in stock at that price it would be foolish to pass it by, even just for stock.
Has anyone used Moss brake drums? I assume all the suppliers get there stock from the same place but I would be keen to know anyone's opinion.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there!! It's just that retail prices will vary from supplier to supplier, a bit like supermarkets, you need to shop around to find the best prices / deal.
However the product, as you say, appears the same..............
Best wishes,
Mike.
