Many Minors, that is all a matter of opinion.
If your interpretation of dullness is based on how it drives, then yes, for sure, the Boxter is a hoot.
My motorbike does 0-60 in less than 4 seconds but it is so dull (as an example).

My interpretation is based around style. I think the Boxter is a plain old dull car, aesthetically. I wouldn't even look twice if one drove by, but whenever a Minor drives by, i always have a full on gawp! So yes, depends on what you're after in a car.

Sothebys have just sold an original one owner '52 VW beetle for £49,000. I can't help thinking this is a bubble which will burst sooner or later.

The head turning factor is very relevant - talking of which I saw a Tesla model S and a McLaren in our little town in the last week. When I had the GT-Four I could drive 200 miles and not see another, it probably also turned heads due to the full NurSpec exhaust. Same with Minors, people always look and smile, especially with the exhaust note..

Les, that's madness. Surely that's the case for all concourse/best in class style competitions too then? I agree there is a vanity to it, but that is ingrained in almost all of us. It is a desire for external acknowledgement for something that we personally appreciate. I love the styling, simplicity and sound of a Minor, but i do also like the head turning. It isn't the reason i ever bought one, but it is a pleasing aspect of it.
Same reason i wear my nicer clothes, do my hair and have a shave before a night out. It isn't uncommon.

Basically if some idiots are prepared to pay this then others will keep expecting it. If we 'sensible' enthusiasts' refuse to buy at these prices and they sit around for long enough those greedy sods might get the message.
Unfortunately the 'investors / speculators' are creeping back in again, pushing prices up and denying the real enthusiasts the car of their dreams because the greedy few have the spare cash to buy and sit on it!
I hope all these 'investors / speculators' get their greedy little fingers burned again, like they did a few years back, then perhaps the real classic car enthusiasts can get on with their hobby in peace again.

I stopped looking at that Series 2 pickup on ebay when I saw the twin rear lights including indicators...
Just seen a fairly mediocre saloon sell for over £2000 with holes in one chassis leg and nasty patches on the other one, centre crossmember and sills. Ok because its 1958 so MOT exempt
The owner had been quoted over £1500 for welding (not by me) so decided to bail out.
Hope the new owner is happy with it....

Yes, I'm a little concerned that a car appears to be "more desirable" to some people due to it not having to pass an MOT - which after all is only a fairly basic safety check ........

the Morris seems to have appreciated quite a lot since. Which is good if you own one, but if you harbour ambitions of getting "back on the horse", it certainly stunts those thoughts!

Well, its only good if you intend to sell it and not replace it.
Like houses, your 'investment' may go up in value, but so do all the others, so you are only standing still really.
I have to say that some of the prices being asked (especially by dealers) seem quite fantastic to me.

Just saw a very tidy looking 52 go for £6300, and older restoration still in good nick - realistic price. Some good deals are out there. Watching for a dealer to relist it at £8k plus...

Just looked further. I'd be wary about the spare wheel mounting being on the side. I thought telephone vans had the wheel mounted on the mesh partition to free up the sides for the storage bins so I wouldn't expect to see a factory fitted wheel mount on the inner wing. Is it an original GPO rear body one asks?
Ok, being picky perhaps, but for that price I'd want to be very picky....
