Now that we are experiencing an increase in petrol prices I wanted to ask if using an additive with standard unleaded fuel is cost effective and
equally ok as premium?

Re: Premium unleaded versus Additive
If you mean Unleaded plus Octane booster verses Super Unleaded there is not much between them re cost and Octane rating. If you mean something else please elaborate.

Re: Premium unleaded versus Additive
Unless you've raised your compression ratio a lot via modifications I don't think there is any advantage to premium (higher octane) fuel, other than a possible lack of modern additives (ethanol I think) that can corrode rubber fuel pipes that go from the fuel pump to the carb.
Go with the cheap fuel! Possibly with a proven lead additive if required.

Thats correct and I think the price difference would be negligible on second thoughtsamgrave wrote:If you mean Unleaded plus Octane booster verses Super Unleaded there is not much between them re cost and Octane rating. If you mean something else please elaborate.
