Excellent , however has anyone asked the question what about the usual traders who follow the rally faithfully are they going to be on site in their usual numbers ????, because without them we cant call it a national for much longer

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
Way too far south
This is a national club and the national rally should reflect that in the site !
Sorry but that's what I think !

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
Hi Both,
Bryan will be liaising with the traders as usual, but it all depends on if they see it as a worthwhile venture. Personally if I was them I'd want to get my name out there so I would attend even if it meant making a slight loss, but that's probably why I'm not a trader! However, any ideas on how to attract more traders would be most welcome!
With regard to the location of the National Rally, it is moved around the country at the request of the membership. The south has been requested many times previously and this time it will be there. Also taken into account is the concentration of members in the particular areas which is why Scotland does get a rough deal on things as there would be so few people prepared to travel that the rally would be tiny and irritate most of the membership. If you do have any suggestions on how to circumnavigate this problem, please do let me/us know and we'll have a look at it as we do want the membership to be happy but you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Personally, I don't care where it is. I'll still travel if it's at Dover, John O'Groats, Lands End, Anglesey, Belfast, etc, etc. but not everyone thinks that way. I see the travelling in the cars as part of the National. For me, the National Rally starts at my house and finishes in the same place a few days later...

The Lakes would be an excellent choice!badobsession wrote:Well depends on who you ask how north is north

I agree, it's a long way south! But we mind driving the least, and some of our Register come from the Isle of Wight.
You'll never please everybody. It is worth noting that the traders area at Scampston was commented on as being particularly sparse...

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
On the subject of Traders I will be contacting some thirty odd businesses and individuals I have on my database to invite them . After the poor turnout at Scampton we offered free or discounted places for the 2016 National Rally but still the attendance by the Minor specialists was poor with many of the stalls being taken by club member autojumblers. What else can we do to attract more stallholders ?
If any of you know of traders in the Sussex/Surrey/Kent area who might like to attend please let me have their contact details. In addition to parts suppliers we would welcome traders selling tools , paints , polishes , accessories etc.

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
When and how will booking be available please?
Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
I for one am pleased to hear it's going to be further 'down South' as most of the time, it seems to be up in the Midlands or Harewood House, Leeds, which takes hours to get to, so by the time you get there you're knackered and your back aches like mad, Minor 1000 seats being what they are - been there, done that, got the T-shirt!
I shall hopefully be along for the National this year, all being well...

Full details plus entry forms will be in the March/April edition of Minor Matters. NB the entry form is sometimes printed on the reverse of the address label, so donj't just throw that away without checking. Anything available on paper will also be replicated on the site so that you can download it if preferred - watch out for further details as soon as they are available.
Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
Regarding stall holders, I'd rather they be member autojumblers, more chance of varied items turning up, and being open to offers. Minor specialists generally sell at their everyday prices so no bargains there. You can buy what they sell any time, whereas the former type of sellers aren't available away from the rally site.
Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
And if you sell your items at a fair price to a fellow enthusiast, you are likely to see them later in the day on the "enthusiasts " stall at double the price!!!
Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
There is usually a Members' autojumble on the Saturday whilst traders are open both days, as are Club Spares.

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
Hopefully Olwyn will be back on the road for me to attend.
On the subject of traders I'd have thought ESM would have no excuse not to attend..................
I always like to peruse the auto jumble though, as I enjoy hunting for the best price, although whether I'll find anything keenly priced down south I don't know, as people seem to whack the prices up for the most part down there........... we'll see..................
Best wishes,
Mike.

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
I agree with Cam here, where ever the National is being held I/we will be there.
For me the National starts when the first item goes in the car and finishes when the last comes out, the traveling in between is a road trip.
Believe me from South Wales to the Nationals location is a road trip. 2015 saw our series II doing a round trip of about 750 miles for the National.
If you think that its to far in your Moggie, then I know it won't be the same come in your modern.
I do agree with the Sottish Branches, having lived on Shetland for many years previously in my younger years Its to far. However they do have the option of the Northern Regional Rally in Cheshire this year.
I am an advocate for moving the National around the country to bring it to as many members each year. but also agree that you can't please everybody. I'm trying to persuade the National to come to South Wales at some time.
The National has gone to this location due to membership No's, I do have one concern and feel that the London based branches may not attend as its outside the M25 and they may see that as to far.

Re: MMOC National Rally 2017
I've done my share of travelling 'up north' to the nationals. If I decide to attend this year, all I need to do is fall out of bed and I'll be there! Well pretty well, compared to the great trek north.
