It WAS broke. It was running very old software which was a security risk as mentioned on here before. It also had lots of 'custom' sections of code, some of which did not work very well. We can't leave it as it is AND upgrade it to sort those problems out!
In answer to the query regarding the images, the reason there is a problem is that the previous image uploading section was a non-original section which was either custom written and/or modified and so was replaced during the upgrade by an attachment upload section which works AND allows the software to be continually updated thus reducing the hacking threat of running older software.
All the images are safely stored but the linking to them is still in the old format (thanks to the previous code). This can be sorted out piece by piece but as you can imagine for EVERY post going back a good few years this is very time consuming and something that I don't have the spare time to (as an unpaid volunteer) and would be VERY expensive to get a company to go through it all and pay them for their time.
The solution is to report any image problems directly to me. please email:
cam.shaw@mmoc.org.uk or
g7tjq@hotmail.com and I will forward your individual requests and have those posts restored.
Please be aware that the cause of this issue was the fact that the previous messageboard had many custom parts added which prevented the system being upgraded. This has had to be 'undone' by reverse engineering the code to enable the messageboard to be upgraded to a secure version. There are these teething problems to sort out which are left over from the old system, but this has been done and great time and expense by the MMOC to preserve 15 years worth of posts as it was deemed that to start fresh again was unthinkable as all the information would be lost.
I thank you all for your continued patience and hope you understand the reasons why we are in the situation we are in.
