I loaded the pic into Paint.Net and resized it to 1280x960 and then selected File / Save As.
You can then adjust the Quality setting down to about 85% - the final file size is displayed at the top of the popup window. Click OK when the file size is under 200k.
It's a bit of a pain for the user, and it's easy to shrink files using PHP on the fly, so the forum should do it automatically.
I first find the picture I want to up load and open it with Microsoft Office. There's an option in the 'Edit Picture ' tab to compress picture. Click on the check box for 'Web Page' and save. Then make sure you select the compressed version when you go to upload.
This pic started out at over 1mb and after compressing was down to about 27kb

or am I stupid ... probably
Thanks

If you have written some text on your post then tab down a couple of lines before selecting a pic to upload. Once the file has been uploaded click on the Place Inline button and the pic should appear where you tabbed down to, I think
nope.... save draft preview submit add files filename ( the file is there ) delete file file comment 151Kbb and a yellow warning triangle Stat us ??
Still perplexed
John
I have just tried this and the place in line button appears for me however for the status section I get a green tick and not a warning triangle. So what ever the problem is it must be caused by the status of the picture, whatever that means. Though the picture I tried was well under the size limit, so maybe it is having trouble if the picture is too close to the top end size limit?
