Good evening members.
My husband has recently purchased and fitted a banjo style ( 4 close spaced spokes to each section ) steering wheel for my 1971 Morris ( a recent wedding present!).He has acquired the correct horn push ( with post and contact and securing screw to boss ). However having spoken to Wayne? at Charles Ware restoration it is apparent that a spring contact of some type has be made up and connected to the single wire which runs out through the top of the existing steering column. The wire needs to be connected to the spring which in turn needs to be connected to the column so it acts as the return mechanism after the horn is pushed.
Can any member help my husband by providing an image in detail of the method of achieving this ? All replies will be very much appreciated.
With thanks
Claire

Re: Steering wheel swap
Hi Claire. Did the horn push work on your old steering wheel? I fitted a banjo style wheel to my '71 traveller and it worked without any other modification, unless there's something missing from your set up it should work too.

Re: Steering wheel swap
The banjo wheel on my 1960 saloon and the later wheel on the1967 traveller are interchangeable. Only know this because I once 'borrowed ' one while I restored the other. Horn wasn't affected,so your problem may be elsewhere.
Re: Steering wheel swap
Hi....Later wheel has a different boss so the one piece spring loaded horn push will not fit into the boss head.
