for sale ...immaculate condition ££££ spent

Post by Budgie »

Well another wasted trip on both time and petrol, sooooo getting fed up with people selling "restored" cars with high prices that turn out to be money pits! Each time I ask for a detailed break down of the works done, problem areas "oh there aren't any", it's the same old story ," vague , vague, vague, best to come and have a look". Spend time arranging viewings', get my hopes up yet again, turn up and oh dear nothing like it's description or photos. Am I the only sucker being dragged into these sellers? :x

That's so true, thanks for making me see the positive side :D. At least I got one immaculate one as per description ten years ago from down in Wiltshire. I took a chance and travelled from South Wales and came home with the biggest smile i'd had since I got divorced. :D Trouble is I'm still trying to replicate it but to no avail, just as well the three this year have been no more than 20 miles away from where I live phew!

Welcome to the world of buying cars, your experiences are generally normal. There is one way of getting what you want but it involves a lot of work, you but a wreck and take it to pieces and rebuild it.

If you restore a car it is usefull to take lots of pictures, If you intend to sell the car it is an easy way to show what was done before sealants and paint get applied, It saves alot of messing about and i am sure alot of peopel think that once you commit to going to look that can talk you into buying.

Ah yes I hate that wording "no time wasters" so these people aren't wasting my time and petrol money traveling to see their immaculate , totally restored cars! :x But as mentioned earlier, I now feel sorry for the people that end up buying these cars thinking that they've had a gem !

Beyond 'no time wasters' some even put 'no idiots'. Does anyone have an awareness of being an idiot? I take the view that anyone who puts stroppy aggressive things in ads is probably selling dodgy stuff and give them a wide berth.

Budgie, It is a pity that you are so far away from me in North Hampshire as I have just advertised my Traveller for sale.

Like the recent advert where the seller described a 56 having a rare 1098cc fitted from new... words fail me, he even wouldn't amend the advert despite multiple people telling him the 1098 wasn't even made before 1962. Never buy from anyone who has no product knowledge.

Very nice car I must say, at least you have put a large number of clear, close up photos so some one has a decent chance of making a decision whether or not to travel .Even though pictures can still be deceiving as I found out too many times. Your car looks very nice and I'm sure it's as good as it portrays shame its way out of my price range !And I agree with you Ianmack, I try to avoid ads with "NO TIME WASTERS " OR "NO TYRE KICKERS" as they tend to be off loading a problem.
