oil light

Post by glee »

Hello: oil light was coming on at low revs. I replaced oil filter and oil and now it is coming on all the time. Oil pressure good and engine sounds sweet. Any pointers will be greatly appreciated. Cheers G

Most likely just a faulty oil pressure switch.

How do you know the oil pressure is 'good' ? What does the gauge read at say 50 mph in top gear with hot engine? Were the plate and spring present under the oil filter casing ?I assume you used 20W50 oil. Assuming all that ok - then yes it could just be a faulty switch.

Thank you - oil pressure at 50 mph is 60 and has been since I installed the pressure gauge after your previous advice to do so - thanks for that. I guess I have taken a risk continuing to drive. Oil 20/50. I've got a screw on filter. so I'll be sorting the switch. Many thanks for your replies.

Well done -that's good pressure - must be the switch unless by some chance the wire has come off and is touching the block?
