Rear bumper blade

Today I received a nice new gleaming chrome bumper blade for my 71 Minor. Unfortunately when my man attempted to remove the existing blade he found the nuts to some of the domed head bolts were corroded turning the bolt around making removal impossible. Any ideas solutions would be appreciated. Using a grinder is at the bottom of the list!

Tell "your man' to attempt to grip the domed head with some mole grips, not always possible though. If he is renewing the bumper for you, grinding the bolt heads off is the painless/quickest way, and presumably marking the old bumper will not matter.

Surely cutting the NUTS off is the best way because then the blade won't be damaged at all

A useful dodge is to put a thin slot in the domed head with a grinder cutting disc, you then can use a screwdriver to hold it.

Agreed but in this case in involves standing on ones head to get at the nuts, not a clever move whilst using a grinder

?? Can you get at the head of the bolt to drill it out?

The theory of this method is 100 times more easy than the practical application of it, however, it will work if you have the right tools and the big bumper nuts aren't rotted on....

Drill through the nut then beat it to death with a small hammer and chisel to split it away. Made more easy by removing the two 1/2 BSF (?) nuts holding the bumper blade to the car so you can get the whole assembly off and onto the floor.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]
