Bonnet prop.

Has anyone else had the same difficulty that we are having, trying to buy the 2 stage bonnet prop advertised in Minor Matters this month? Tried 2 emails (only contact available) but no replies yet.
Guess I'll have to stick to my broom handle?

I had no trouble at all,he replied straight away and I received it last week.He could be on Holiday!

I am the bonnet prop contact. Sorry to hear you have had trouble contacting me. The email in Minor Matters (ie minorbonnet@gmail.com) is set up to fire off an instant reply giving the buying details. Incidentally an unstated benefit of this device is the amount of light it lets into the engine compartment, be it daylight or garage fluorescent.

It makes areal difference to under-bonnet tasks.

Be aware that if the hinges are not correctly set they can be snapped very easily by opening the bonnet further than intended....

I don't understand the logic behind that one. Surely the bonnet is rotating in the same plane, just a larger angle. How can that put extra strain on the hinges such that snapping is a danger? Agreed, the hinges are not the most over-engineered bits of the Minor, but they should cope with the forces imposed. There is an upper limit to movement which prevents the lower edge of the bonnet contacting the windscreen.

I've snapped several bonnet and boot hinges over the years - in fact, my Minor came to me with a bonnet hinge that had been re-welded. It would be nice if someone would go into production with stronger versions. Declan, thoughts?

Do you have all the buffers fitted? Think they have 4.
