I've just bought a van...

Post by tomtom »

Hello all! It's been a very very long time since I last posted on here.

I am now the new owner of an (Austin badged) Morris minor van! If you were at the national this year you may have seen it for sale! I was really surprised to see it as the van was local to me and had seen it parked up on a number of occasions.. I've never met the owner.. Until the show.

It drives well, better than my saloon! Apart from a noisy timing chain. The van is currently being treated to some new metal (quite a lot of it) so I will take some more photos when I've got it back.

Over the coming months be prepared for lots of questions! It's my aim to get it back to its original spec. The job that's scaring me the most is sorting the guttering out! :(

P.s I have removed that nasty grille cover haha!

Very cool! I'd love to have a van (or better yet, a pickup) to play with. That paint scheme is funky - blue body with red wheels... What color would have been original, do you know?
The way to a man's heart may be making food, but the way to my heart is buying me car parts!

I've got a 71 van and mines an Austin badged but it had the Morris badges on it when I got still have not got round to changing them yet. I've have had to do a few jobs on mine when I got it. When it went for the last MOT I knew some bushes and the brakes needed doing so the garage that MOTs the van works on classic cars and did the work on it.

UPDATE: Tom has been treated to a lots of new metal. He passed his MOT Today, so that means I can get stuck into sorting the bodywork blemishes, windscreen rubber, leaking quarter lights, major service, engine tune up and Interior.

I do have a brown folding passenger seat, where can a source a drivers seat?
