MGB gearbox fitting.

Post by midget »

Am considering trying to fit MGB o/d box to my 2 door with Marina 1275 engine. Having looked at this through the search facility, I know its possible, but has any one actually completed one, and if so would they share the info please?
I appreciate the problems with backplate, propshaft, mounting and spigot bush issues but was/is it worth it? I have one lurking in the shed with all the original B hardware so keen to use it,especially as the Minor box is on the way out. Also have a couple of Marina boxes, but adapting the Triumph o/d option seems expensive and problematic along with lopping off a lump of the bell housing does not appeal!

It's a lot bigger -esp at the bellhousing. Seriously doubt it's worth the hassle.

I am not aware of anyone fitting a MGB o\d box to a marina and the problems are probably going to be similar to..

lopping off a lump of the bell housing does not appeal!

the only saving you would make is in the purchase of the o/d triumph box which could be offset by the sale of your B o/d box.. then you will have gear ratios that suit your marina engine..
