Clutch on a 1275 engine

Post by Propshaft »

Hi I have read what I can find on the forum but would like clarification on which clutch to fit to the 1275 engine using a 1098 gearbox. The engine has a clutc fitted but I intend to replace this .This clutch measures 2 3/8 from cover to flywheel the other one measures 1 3/4 . The question is what clutch to fit and do I need to alter the linkage . I realise this has come up before but am a little confused after trawling through it . Thanking you in anticipation

The type/size of clutch that can be fitted depends upon what flywheel you have fitted.
What flywheel do you have fitted?
A 1275cc Midget flywheel on a 1275cc Midget engine or a modified 1098cc fitted to a 1275cc Marina/Ital engine or another type.

Which 1275 engine? Midget or Marina/Ital?

If it's a Midget, then a standard Midget clutch and standard Minor mechanical linkage works fine with a 1098 gearbox.

It may be 'heavy' - but there is a well publicised fix by extending the operating lever. Use the search facility to find it.
