These are the people for SU Carbs.
http://burlen.co.uk/
Just look through their web page and all the details are there.

http://sucarb.co.uk/cf/vehicle/list/?ma ... ehicle=A55

http://sucarb.co.uk/carbspec/carburetto ... ls/id/223/

http://sucarb.co.uk/carbspec/carburetto ... ls/id/226/

There should be a tag attached to the float chamber with the AUC number of the carb stamped on it. That number identifies the carb and its manufactured specification.

Any problems just let me know as Burlen are located not too far from me and they do have a sales counter.

AUD 9203 is just a part number for the Carburettor Float lid on an HS type carburetor.
If your friend follows Phil's website links , he will find the right parts for his car.

The actual model number of the carb is not that important - as long as the float bowl is vertical. The overhaul kits are pretty much a waste pf money - what's actually wrong with the carb?

This is the direct link to the needle.

http://sucarb.co.uk/m-090in-jet-needle-fixed.html

The parts you refer to are included in the links in my post above. Just click on the link and it will show you all the parts being discussed including part numbers.

If you do purchase the spares from Burlen Fuels make sure that you provide all the details possible of the car.
Sri Lanka is a long way from Salisbury

No hope of getting a spare/used carb locally? I'm guessing it's not inexpensive to send parts from the UK... Why do you think he needs a new needle?
