you just lost one on a bad bit of road!!! if you hit a pot hole on that side it could do damage as it has
nothing to stop it hitting the inner wing etc :-?

Front or back ?
Mine had no front ones fitted when I bought it. I went to a car show today and looked at a minor that had been professionally been restored at great expense ... no front bump stops fitted and the owner didn't know !

It doesn't take 3 weeks to fit a bump stop - 3 minutes more like! Pop one on right away. Are the dampers well filled with SAE 40 oil??

It's just two wee nuts and bolts - nothing too it.

Unless they're rusted solid and need a grinder, or the mounting point has corroded and needs welding, or the damage has already been done by an impact and the inner wing area is distorted, or...

However, agreed that "normally" it's a quick and simple job.

When fitting, remember that they are handed, and should be stamped LH and RH on the mounting plate.

It's a great pity that no-one has come up with an Aeon type progressive bump stop for the front (and indeed back) of the Minor. Would probably need some form of 'landing plate' fitted on top of the kingpin - but would be a worthwhile improvement. There used to be bump stops of that type for the Mini (from Comps Dept) but haven't seen them for a while.

The other one is the same age presumably. It will fall off tomorrow.... Have you beefed up the dampers with the SAE40 oil ??? Is the car running low to be hitting the bump stop like that??
