cyl block drain tap thread size

Hi does anyone know the size of the drain tap on the 948 block ? as I need to plug up the hole

I don't know, but ESM will, I am sure. They have a part number RAD102 (and a drain tap on the following page) for the radiator. I don't expect the block threads will be any different, but they should know.

The block thread will be a course thread, sorry don't know the size, the rad drain thread is a fine thread and much smaller.

The thread is 1/4" x 19 TPI BSP and to confirm I have just tried a 1/4" x 19 TPI BSP tap down the drain tap hole in the block hole and it fits like a glove. :D

Just fit a drain tap - it's handy for checking if the block is filling up with sludge.

Russ,

Make sure that you get a taper thread plug 1/4" BSPT. Just to make sure use either a smear of gasket sealant or PTFE tape on the plug threads.
