This is the solid version which I would prefer as I could make a prototype in 55°poly.
The M8 rubber mounts that I received yesterday were in my opinion still on the hard side.

Looking good. With the bobbin mount version you showed earlier - would you not just dispense with the top curved face and simply bolt the bobbins through the engine front plate? Bonding them of course to the lower plate which in turn bolts to the tower.

Well - I would say so - it's hardly going to move. I can't even see it's there to ensure 'right way round' mounting.

My thoughts too Roy,
So this is what the bobbin version you suggested would look like. This time with two male threads -the bottom ones screwed in, glued and cut flush with the plate.
Could work and is quite simple. The bobbin size would now be 18mm thick.

Or just no top plate at all - thicker bobbins fixed directly to the engine front plate. The weakness obviously in pretty much all the designs is the 'bonding' of the bobbins to the lower plate. But if they can stick tiles to the Space Shuttle (with only the odd one falling off..) ...surely this can be done too.

I have already removed the top plate. What you see in the drawing are the plates on each end of the bobbins which I should have shown hatched. I didn't show this on the earlier versions.

If you fit two separate bobbins using the existing front engine plate holes and drilling two new holes in the engine mounting tower the upper bobbin stud into the engine mounting will not be able to accept a nut as the new hole corresponds with the return at the top of the tower.
That is why there is two studs into the engine front plate and only one into the engine mount tower.

I think at the moment we are just throwing ideas at the wall -to see what sticks. I'm guessing bought-in bobbins will have metric threads - no great loss there.

I haven't tried sourcing bobbins with imperial threads.
