Whilst out hilly driving yesterday I struggled up some inclines with stuttering engine. Fuel pump working fine (according to co-driver) Had to stop and restart after a few seconds and made it to the top albeit hesitantly. On the flat, fine, on slight inclines fine. I had plenty of fuel so not low in tank. Any ideas?
Thought initially sticking float but before any investigation would ask question of the more experienced here. Standard 948cc with HS2 carb. No modifications.
Lack of fuel???

Do a pump flow test - pump a pint of fuel into a can and tell us how long that takes. I doubt it was warm enough to be 'the vapours'.... Are you SURE there is plenty of fuel - very possible the gauge is not accurate.

Re: Lack of fuel???
Well, we attempted the flow test tonight. Whilst the pump pumps when we are in a moving vehicle, when static it is a bit hesitant and an occasional knock is needed to get it going. Mmmm, its time to take it off the vehicle and look at the setting and points on the bench. Thanks Roy for the lead on that. I hopefully should be able to post a figure after a little further investigation.

It should hammer away constantly. Maybe the feed pipe/filter is a partly blocked - but does sound like new points time.
