Re: 1275 Gearbox rebuild
What number is stamped on the lay gear? In fact it would be good to post all component numbers if you could.

Re: 1275 Gearbox rebuild
It wasn't clear - looked like HS 4 or HS14 - half the imprint was missing!
The reverse idler cog set had HS1 stamped on it - and was 14/18 teeth; it didn't look any different to the standard 1098cc Minor 'boxes one.

Ok thanks for reply, didn't recognise those numbers. 14/18 seems to be common to both boxes.
Re: 1275 Gearbox rebuild
Well, another oddity discovered today; in one of the spare 1098cc Minor boxes I have, the reverse idler gear is stamped 22A454, whereas the other Minor 'boxes both have 22A453. I've googled it, and can't find any reference to the 22A454 version.
Also, are the main gearbox casings date stamped? I have Minor casings with serial numbers 86082, 152381 (also stamped 4/6/7..) and 308620 (also stamped 6/70) and a Midget one stamped A8H248.
