But it does not fit on the axis of the crankshaft. too small inner diameter of the sheet metal part. the oil thrower is in place (see foto)

It does to fit on the crankshaft - it fits between the hexagon head of the starter dog and the crankshaft pulley and fits over the 5/8" thread of the starter dog with the concave facing outwards.

It's slightly oddly shaped - the original was flat - probably designed to make bending it over easier - and as Phil describes - one edge is tapped into the recess on the pulley to 'retain' it.

Hi there

just a little upgrade - first some pictures from the cylinder head of my old lady

and my project is progressing quite well.Today I want to attach the cylinder head, adjust the valve clearance, mount the alternator and so on! I hope I have not forgotten anything.

until now, the engine can turn around easily and there are no nasty noises ... thats all for now.

quick question: valves on 0,035mm? is it the right with a completely new engine?

I think you have got an extra '0' in there!! 0.035 mm would be a little bit too tight!!!

Standard setting was 12 thousandths of an inch (around 0.3 mm) but many now advocate 15 thousandths (or 'thou'), in some cases just for the exhaust valves, or in some cases for exhausts and inlets. that is equal to 0.38 mm. So 0.35 mm will be fine.

I do strongly advise using the later Leyland setting for 'unleaded' heads of 18thou - 0.38mm
