45D Base Plate
slightly confused over the base plate from the 45d off my marina 1275 engine. Surly with the vacuum advance will not work with the 'peg' in this position?[frame]

Re: 45D Base Plate
Does it all move by hand? Does the return spring hook over that peg? Sorry - but it's a while since I have been inside a 45D. Did you get revised dizzy mechanical advance settings to go with your new camshaft??

Re: 45D Base Plate
That's exactly what i thought looking up pictures of 45D base plats, but i found one that was like this. I think i will cut the peg out move it round then make up a new peg for the time being.
Re: 45D Base Plate
NO! The two parts must swivel - concentrate on that. Do not cut the pin away - why would you do that???

Re: 45D Base Plate
No no I know, what I'm saying it that I will cut the pin away and I will then be able to swivel it around to the long slot where it can move freely under vacuum. When the pin is situated at the moment two parts are unable to swivel[frame]

Re: 45D Base Plate
i might be wrong but i think some marina's had a problem with over advanced timing under load and they modified the distributor to run no vacuum advance so this might be what you have or a lucas ''whoops''
