Uv oil or Danish oil

Hi all,

Looking into buying oil to reproof the wood on the traveller once the weather gets better. I had my wood completely redone at Charles ware last year, so it's been drenched in cuprinol with (I believe) a Danish oil finish. Might start a fight here, but would it be better to recoil with Danish or use osmo uv extra?

I used to use boiled Linseed oil or Danish oil, but both give a rather dull finish, and you really need to keep applying it every few months.

Then I tried Sikkens microporous varnish, which seems extremely durable (has been on there a few years now, and still looks good with a nice semi-gloss finish), and it doesn't flake off like yacht varnish, as it allows the wood to 'breathe', rather than trapping pockets of water in it.

If it lives outside. Danish oil is ok for a garaged car.

I used Osmo at the end of August last year and, although it gives good protection, I feel it darkens the wood too much. After a light sanding this spring I'm going to give danish oil a try in the hope of a lighter finish
