Low-light appears on eBay

Post by gtt1951 »

I've kept this notification off "cars for sale" as no discussion is allowed in that forum.
Has anyone noticed this latest "barn find", even thought the seller has had it "not in a barn" for ages.

PommReg and Mike Perry - do you know of this one.
I'll cross post in the MM Register as well.

I'd love a lowlight and that doesn't look a bad car but it probably isn't quite as close to original as claimed? It does seem to have the earlier screen surround inside the car but surely the door tops are stainless steel ones from a traveller? and although the seats are decent it has nasty reproduction door cards which would be hard to replace.

I've seen the ad (not the car!) - its a nice looking car - it should be sold with a preservation order to ensure it isn't resprayed and over restored to look like a new one. The paintwork and chrome looks lovely, although I don't like the a rear reflectors. I also like the lack of hubcaps - gives it more of a 'used' look. Its a good price (if solid and running) at £4500, although it is an auction so this will rise. I've copied a picture for those that don't want to look at the ad.[frame]Image[/frame]

Looks very nice. Door tops should be chrome plated and I can't really tell from the pics if they still are or have been replaced with later stainless ones - a lot of them have as its much cheaper than having all the bits replated although it doesn't look quite as nice. Looks like its had new door cards but otherwise a very well preserved car.

I think they are later tops and quarter lights, you can just see the exterior hinge on them

Most likely I guess. Especially with escutchions round the door handles - probably complete later doors. Still a nice car though.
