Is this "more original" than the other car? It certainly doesn't have its original registration despite the dealers claims.

No, not the original reg. That dates to around 2002 era and will be clearly marked on the V5. Dealer should have spotted it or know better... Other than that it looks very nice. Only the odd looking door cards and glove boxes let it down.

Would need to know stamped-in chassis number and body id to do a check - chassis plate should be treated as a confirmation of id ONLY - fairly easy to spot a duff.

Claims to have 4 doors - but I only see two. And 3000 miles??? Aye right,,,, NAS 481 -could that be original reg number?

Thanks to all for your comments on buying the Morris Minor I was interested in and info on any others that might be possible purchases. I had this particular car inspected and, though it wasn't all bad, I was uncomfortable about a few areas that may have been troublesome later on. I am aware of possible the 'weak' spots on the Minor and most of these came up in the report. Wasn't too happy about the report being 'copied' to the garage without my consent either and never heard of this before in all my dealings with inspections for any other cars I have been interested in. Anyway, it's back to the drawing board folks and thanks again.

It seems very strange that they would copy the vendor in the report, you paid for it and own it therefore!

A car that is presented needing nothing, either now or in the near future is a very rare and expensive thing indeed.
May I ask what areas they drew attention to?

Plenty more fish in the sea, keep an eye on eBay and car and classic as well as post a wanted ad here.

What's for sure is if you buy a car that you are not 100% happy with, colour for example, then two perfect black ones will appear the next day 10 miles from you

I gave up on inspections owing to a guy ignoring my report and buying the car (thick underseal preventing inspection of underframe integrity).
Car required nearly 1k of welding to pass its next MoT.

What's the point in paying for an opinion IF it's going to be ignored?!

Certainly that report should have been private to you - or at very least you should have been asked if it could be shared. Of course - perhaps the seller refused to allow the inspection unless they got a copy...in which case I would have asked him to pay half the cost. Always very suspicious when there are no 'underneath' pictures of a Minor for sale. I was of course wrong when I suggested it would drop £2k when driven out of the showroom - it would be £3k drop now that we know what it sold for at the auction! Keep looking - there are GOOD Minors out there.
